Stay home. That has been the main message that has been circulated during this global health crisis or pandemic.

But with this message and order of staying home due to enhanced community quarantine or lockdown, many people also lost their capacity to earn.

In Metro Manila, the capital of the Philippines, only essential businesses and those that can still operate with their workers working from home or with a skeletal force are allowed to continue operating.

Now, if you are a parent whose employer has to stop its business because of the lockdown, you must be worried about how you can continue to feed your family during this time.

Although the national government has come up with some ways to provide help to the affected population, for many areas and families, the help from the government is not enough. Even the distribution of relief goods and cash or calamity assistance is painfully slow.

Parents could be wondering already how they can afford to buy groceries and food items in the coming days or weeks, especially if this lockdown is extended for a few more months.

If your family has an emergency fund for at least 3-6 months, you are blessed! But that is not the situation with many families.

Thus, I’ve decided to come up with this blog post to help fellow parents who might be looking for ways to continue to earn income during a lockdown.

What I’m going to share are ways that I have already tried or done. That way, I know that I am not sharing false hope or false promises.

EARN BY ANSWERING SURVEYS – This is the easiest way that I know fellow parents can continue to earn. It takes some time, though, to accumulate enough points that you can redeem. But, you will surely get to redeem your points eventually once you achieve the minimum number of points. Moreover, if you are currently out of work right now, you can choose to use your time wisely by answering more surveys daily instead of watching senseless TV, playing video games or just scrolling on social media. You may read more about this option in one of my previous blog posts titled Earn Extra Income by Answering Surveys. In the past, we can earn additional points by inviting our friends to join the platform and answer surveys. But, this feature has been removed.

EARN THROUGH REFERRAL/AFFILIATE PROGRAMS – This is another easy way to earn income. You earn with every successful referral who buys a product or service that you refer to or recommend. The key here is to present the products or services that you promote or recommend as solutions to your contacts who might benefit from them. Of course, I would recommend that you only promote products and services that are aligned with your values and beliefs. In line with this, I’d like to invite you to be part of our referral program. EARN THROUGH AN ONLINE JOB OR BUSINESS – These days, if you cannot continue working or doing your business online, you’ll have to close shop. What used to be an advantage of some people in the past has become the key to survival in the current coronavirus pandemic and lockdown. I had been working remotely and online as a freelancer and eventually as an entrepreneur for at least a decade. My main business is consulting. I only go out of the house to meet with clients and conduct training programs for them or to give talks. But now, all my meetings are online or over the phone. I also submit most of my deliverables via email. Prior to working as a freelance HR practitioner, writer, and editor, I was also managing people and tasks remotely in one of my previous jobs. I am not new to this kind of set-up. Thus, I now offer online coaching to people who want to earn through online jobs and businesses. EARN BY SELLING YOUR DIGITAL PRODUCTS – I put this option at the end because it can take some time for you to create and launch one. The first three ways are the quickest ways to earn during a lockdown. I did not create my digital products overnight. It took me years to conceptualize, create, edit, improve and launch them. But this is something that you can choose to do, eventually, if you want to earn passive income in the future. You can create an e-book or an e-course. I have created a number of e-books already and almost all of them were award-winners and Amazon bestsellers. I launched my first e-course (iHOPE Online Coaching Program) on my 40th birthday. But it took me years to plan and work on that.
