All my kids like to draw. Drawing and doodling are among their favorite past times. I can not longer remember how many drawing books we bought and they used up in the past years. They even like to draw on their homeschool worksheets, especially my eldest.
I’m happy that my kids like drawing. Drawing, sketching and painting were among my favorite hobbies also when I was a little girl and even when I was already an adult.
Sadly, I had to stop or I didn’t have time to keep on doing this as a hobby when I became a parent. I still hope to paint again and attend paint classes with my kids in the future.
Thus, when I learned about Art Jam by Manila Workshops, I instantly grabbed the opportunity for my kids.
They’ve been drawing stick figures for the longest time now. I think it would be a wonderful opportunity for them to attend a drawing or sketching class.
In the Intro to Sketching segment, kids will learn the 7 basic elements on day 1, they will learn to draw basic shapes and forms on day 2 and shading and drawing still life on day 3.
In the Intro to Painting segment, they will learn the methods and techniques in painting on day 1, the application of techniques on day 2 and painting landscapes on day 3.
In the Intro to Oil Pastel segment, they will learn how to use oil pastel on day 1, 10 oil pastel techniques on day 2 and painting landscapes using oil pastel on day 3.
Then, if your child attends all segments and the final day, he will learn the application of all these mediums. Isn’t that exciting?
I wish there’s also an adult version of this workshop that I can attend.
But this is a kids art workshop. So, let’s talk about your kids. Do your kids like doing art stuff? Is this an area of interest for them as well?
Do you know that there is such a thing as art therapy? Even if kids are not serious about making art as their future profession, it’s nice to let them learn how to draw and paint. Art is therapeutic. It helps calm the mind and the heart. It helps people express their thoughts and feelings.
You might want to register your child to these workshops.
Manila Workshops is proud to present their first art workshop for kids through Art Jam. This workshop is ideal for kids 4-8 years old. They will learn the basics on sketching, painting and smudging. You can enlist your child for just a segment or for the entire 10 days!
I wish I was able this kind of workshop when I was a child! I could have ended as an author and illustrator of children’s books. Well, it’s never too late!
So, if your child love the arts or your child is also dreaming of becoming an artist someday, this would be a great opportunity for him to learn the basics.
The class will be taught by Eric Angelo Aquino. After he graduated college, he became a portrait artist in Makati. He became an animator in Tooncity Animation Inc. where he was trained by a well-known animation director from Walt Disney Animation, Scott Petersen from 2008 to 2010. He also became a book illustrator in a publishing company in Cubao, Quezon City where he helped to teach kids the basics of illustration. Now, he is a freelance illustrator, cartoonist and a character designer. He is now famously known as Erictoons. He’s currently working for a stock cartoon website called Vectortoons.com.
The learning rates are as follows:
P2,499 for a 3-day segment and P6,499 for all sessions or for 10 days. The workshop fee is already inclusive of the art materials, certificate and snacks.
