We love going on field trips! We went to Bohol this May and we had several field trips during our trip. One of these field trips was at the Simply Butterflies Conservation Center in Bilar, Bohol. Bilar is 41 kilometers from Tagbilaran City. We passed by the Manmade Forest (which was 5 minutes away) on our way here.
The center has a butterfly garden, a butterfly enclosure, a visitor center, a restaurant, gift shop, a feeding area for butterflies and a breeding center. In the gift shop, they sell butterfly products and butterfly by-products. These are handmade products of local villagers.
There was a tour guide who assisted us as we went around. He had a sense of humor and was friendly. He even volunteered to take our photos.

Our guide tells the names of the butterflies on display in the exhibit area. One of the butterflies here is half male and half female.

Our guide explains the difference between the cocoon of moths and the pupa of butterflies. What he is holding here are the cocoons. The one on the glass box on the right were live pupa of butterflies.
The tour was short but informative. My husband and I also learned new things alongside our kids during our field trip.
The entrance fee is only P50 for adults and P10 for children. Very cheap but worth it, especially if you will not hurry but choose to rest and relax in the cabanas in the garden.
You can finish the tour in approximately 15 minutes. Then, you are free to wander around center or eat in their restaurant.
I highly recommend this to be part of your itinerary if you are visiting Bohol with young children.
