Happy International Women’s Month! The whole month of March has been dedicated to women. Empowering women in various ways, promoting women’s rights, and recognizing women’s contributions and influence.
Have you seen some bright pink billboards around the metro? Global Women Who Rule is painting the town pink through these billboards!
You will see most of these LED billboards in Metro Manila until Sunday. You can find the GWWR billboards in EDSA-Guadalupe, EDSA Robinson’s Galleria, C5-Bagong Ilog in Pasig, EDSA Belson-Crame, EDSA Caltex Makati/Rockwell, Commonwealth Philcoa, Tomas Morato corner Kamuning, Caloocan (8th Street), NAIA Terminal 3, Pasay and MC Home Ortigas. There is also a billboard in Cebu along Escario Street. These billboards are made possible by our publicity partners, namely, Outcomm, Inc., United Neon, Moving Walls, VLink Interactive, Prime Recall, Pitch Works, and Blue Sky.
Global Women Who Rule was birthed by Apple Esplana-Manansala in 2021. It is a group that is aspirational but non-assuming, non-discriminating, and accepting. GWWR’s annual summit that is held every March aims to remind all of us to reach out to unite, love and encourage each other. Apple created this sisterhood, this movement, to give Filipina leaders a platform that can enable them to reach more people and help them magnify their impact for the good of society.
This year, I am honored and humbled to be included in Global Women Who Rule’s 2023 profiles. This is now the third year of GWWR.
I will be sharing the stage with 21 empowered Filipinas who are also recognized for their positive influences and contributions to society in their fields of expertise.
I love that this movement or sisterhood celebrates the successes of Filipinas here in the Philippines and abroad. I also love that collaboration and not envy are encouraged among women. I believe that we can do so much good for our neighbors, especially the marginalized in society, if we will work together and use our talents, skills, and resources to pay it forward. Imagine the greater impact that we would make! We could reach and help more people!
According to Apple, there were around a hundred nominees this year from different countries. I’m so grateful to be included in the final list of profiles this 2023!
The members of the jury, led by the Ideator and Founder herself, Apple Esplana-Manansala, were part of the previous batches of GWWR.
This event will be jampacked with inspiration and valuable information that will benefit not just women but everyone.
“The topics for each keynote speech are rich and inspiring, and the speakers are the best in their fields and they teach from experience,” says Apple. “We’re here to inspire, to compel women to harness their power and be a vehicle for good. GWWR is a group that can help young girls to start dreaming and work towards achieving goals, and therefore build and strengthen communities,” she adds.
I will be speaking on Motherhood and Leaving a Legacy at around 3:55 PM. I have already written my speech and I’m excited to deliver it on Saturday! My message is not only for women or mothers. It is for girls of all ages. It’s also for fathers and husbands because when they hear and understand it, they will get better at supporting the women in their lives.
Some of the outstanding women who will speak on Saturday are the following:
Erika Canoy-Sanchez – Executive Vice President and COO of RMN Networks. She will speak on Engagement and Empathy.
Marieton Pacheco – Broadcast Journalist with professional experience in television and online media. She will talk about Starting Anew: Why Women Should Not Be Afraid to Start Again.
Gracie Maulion – a Community Builder and Content Creator like me. She will speak on Budgeting and Stewardship.
Arizza Ann Nocum – Co-Founder and President of KRIS, a non-profit organization that promotes peace through education and youth leadership and will talk about Building Peace in the Philippines Through Women & Youth Leadership.
Abby Asistio – Singer-Songwriter, Host, Speaker and Alopecia Awareness advocate. She will talk about Owning Your Purpose and Personal Power. Alopecia Philippines is this year’s event beneficiary.
There’s so much more! You may read the rest of the details about this year’s profiles here. You will also see the topics that they will speak about on their individual posters as well as the time when they will give their keynote.
This year’s summit will be streamed live on March 25 from 1 PM to 6 PM via The New Channel’s website and social media pages (Facebook, Youtube, Linked IN, and Twitter). GWWR is TNC’s flagship movement. although separate entities, The New Channel (TNC) and GWWR are connected because Apple Esplana-Manansala is also the President of TNC.
The first 2 years of GWWR were done purely online. But now that the economy is already opening up, GWWR 2023 will have a hybrid format. Some of the speakers will be delivering their keynote online while others will be at Enderun in Pasig.
GWWR Summit is committed to using the power of social media to promote community and use #DigitalForGood. You can learn more about GWWR when you click this link.
So, mark your calendar and save your seat here.
I hope you’d be able to watch all of us. Or if you have prior commitments, I hope you can watch my speech at least. Or you can watch the replay on TNC’s Facebook page.
Let this event be your family’s Women’s Month activity and bonding! Gather your family members, including your children, and let us all celebrate and listen to the beautiful and inspiring stories of Filipino women from different places around the globe.
