My eldest child turned a year older last Saturday.
He spent most of his day doing the things that he loves. He attended a coding class in the morning with other Devcon Kids where he learned more about VexVR coding. After lunch, he attended his coding class for Advanced/Intermediate Scratch lessons with his new mentor. Then, in the evening he chose to serve as the pianist in the Anticipated Mass in our Parish and in the dinner fellowship that followed after the Mass with visitors from the Confraternity of Our Mother of Good Counsel from Cebu. Yanthy performed a number of songs during the dinner. Our family also sang the original composition of my husband and Yanthy.
Actually, I already asked him in advance how he wanted to spend his birthday this year. He said that he wants to serve as a pianist in the Anticipated Mass in our parish. When he said this, I felt proud and joyful because he chose to spend his birthday serving the Lord with his time and talent. I must have done something good to have raised a son who made this kind of decision.
Prior to his birthday this year, my eldest child also launched his five new singles on at least 25 music platforms. This was his one big accomplishment during his 13th year. These 5 singles were launched one after the other in the days leading to his birthday this year. These would be part of his upcoming album titled Christmas Hymns for Him. I wrote about this in detail in my previous blog post titled My Homeschooled Teenager is Now a Recording Artist.
Since his day was full on his birthday this year, we only ordered a simple lunch to celebrate during lunch at home with our immediate family members. There were only 5 of us. Thus, we didn’t order a lot.
I just made sure that we had cake, spaghetti, and ice cream. We also ordered fried chicken. These are the usual birthday food when our kids celebrate their birthdays.
But because my eldest child also had a big milestone this year, aside from turning a year older, I felt that he deserves a birthday celebration in a restaurant and somewhere in or near the Tagaytay area. He likes going to Tagaytay for family celebrations or outings.
Good thing that I discovered an al fresco restaurant where our family can safely eat out and celebrate.
I made the arrangements via the restaurant’s Facebook page prior to my son’s birthday month. I requested them to put up a birthday banner also for I no longer had the time to decorate at home on the day of his birthday because of our busy schedule working on the launch of his singles and album.
Then, on the day after my son’s birthday, we went to Famu Dining PH.
Because the place looks nice, we also had a mini pictorial for our teenage recording artist. 😉
We shopped for new outfits for him on the day before his birthday. He has grown a lot and his birthday and the launch of his singles and album are the perfect excuses to gift him with new clothes. This delighted him, of course!
Famu Dining PH is located at Purok 5, Tagaytay-Sta. Rosa Road, Silang, Cavite.
We decided to leave our house after lunch so that we could arrive there while there is still light and we could take a lot of daytime pictures.
We arrived a few minutes earlier than our expected time of arrival. Traffic was slow that Sunday.
We were happy to see that the area reserved for our family was decorated with a blue Happy Birthday banner and white and blue balloons. The decor and table set-up was perfect for our birthday boy’s outfit!
Our eldest son gamely posed while waiting for our food order.
Even our two younger sons liked posing for the camera just like their older brother.
Our Food Order
We ordered the food that our birthday boy likes. He chose Baby Back Ribs and Leche Flan. We also ordered the signature Bulalo soup that is famous in the Tagaytay-Batangas province. We ordered Lechon Shanghai for our appetizer and Pinakbet with Bagnet so we could have vegetables also. For our additional dessert, we ordered the favorite of our middle child, Buko Pandan Salad. We had calamansi juice for our drink.
The food were presented well and looked appetizing. But they tasted much better! We enjoyed all the dishes.
We all loved the Baby Back Ribs. It was tender, tasty, and juicy. It was served with a side dish of vegetables in a bed of lettuce.
We enjoyed sipping the Bulalo soup! It was perfect because we had slightly rainy weather that afternoon and evening. It was a blessing that we still got to have our mini pictorial in between the light rain showers. My middle child enjoyed eating the corn in the Bulalo! My husband and I loved the tender meat also.
The crunchy bagnet was a good partner to the soft vegetables in the Pinakbet.
Our youngest liked the Lechon Shanghai and the Baby Back Ribs. I recommend that you order these if you are a family with young children.
The Leche Flan was smooth and not too sweet. Just the way I like it.
Our two younger children loved the Buko Pandan Salad. I liked it, too. But, I loved the Leche Flan more.
They had big servings. Thus, we were not able to finish the food that we ordered. We just had the leftovers wrapped and we brought them home.
While letting our tummies digest our food, we played the game Name That Tune with our eldest son as our game master. He and his brothers love playing this game! He brought our small keyboard/midi keyboard controller and used it during our game.
Then, before going home, we had more pictures taken.
I also had the opportunity to meet the owner of the restaurant.
Our Verdict
We, definitely, recommend Famu Dining PH to other families! We love the food and the ambiance. We also like their customer service.
I love that the tables are not too close to each other. Each area is amply separated from other areas. They also have curtains that can help provide more privacy. These are things that parents like me are looking for when dining outside with young children. Or for families who want to be cautious and safe still since the pandemic is not completely over yet, this is a very good place to go for family celebrations. At Famu Dining PH, you can eat heartily without fear of getting exposed to the COVID virus because there is ample physical distancing between dining areas or tables and it is open but with a roof cover.
Tips
Some tips, though, when you go there, particularly in the evening.
- Because there are a lot of plants, there are also many mosquitoes. Make sure that you put on and bring with you an insect repellant.
- Come in the afternoon so you’ll have a chance to take photos both during the daytime and nightime.
- Call to reserve a table and inform them if you are celebrating a special occasion so they can put up decorations for you.
- Choose from their menu in advance. I was thinking of doing this but we got busy. We were not able to taste the Lechon Belly or the Crispy Pata Tim because it takes a while to cook these and when we arrived, there was no Lechon Belly and Crispy Pata Tim already cooked. If you want to order this, I suggest that you inform them in advance.
It was, indeed, a wonderful dining experience for our family at Famu Dining PH! I highly recommend this al fresco restaurant to families, especially those with young children, elderly family members, and those with family members with fragile health. Here, you can bond and make many beautiful family memories without fear during this COVID-19 pandemic.
