For the first time in what seemed like forever to my kids, our family had a field trip again! This is not a virtual field trip like what we did last year. Thus, not only were the kids excited, even my husband and I were looking forward to it.
Before the pandemic, we would go on at least 4 field trips each year as part of our homeschool calendar and activities. When the pandemic happened, we had to content ourselves with virtual field trips and food trips.
I first learned about the place from a friend who shared on her Facebook post that she and her family visited the place. I immediately looked for the Facebook page of the resort and inquired.
After some planning, my family and I went to Torres Farm and Resort in Naic, Cavite yesterday.
We had lunch in our vehicle after buying food from a Jollibee branch at the South Expressway. We still do not dine in restaurants as a safety precaution. The line at Jollibee’s drive-through was long. My husband just went inside the store and bought food we can eat in our vehicle.
After eating lunch quickly, we continued driving to our destination.
It was a good decision to eat on the way because traffic was bad in Cavite. It took us around 2 hours and 30 minutes to go to the resort from our place in Paranaque. Our travel time going back to Manila after our field trip was relatively shorter. We went home after eating an early dinner at the resort.
Let me enumerate the things that my family and I liked about the place.
10 Things We Liked at Torres Farm & Resort
They were quick to answer my questions through their Facebook page. If you have questions, just send them a message. You’ll usually get an answer in minutes. Here is the link to their Facebook page.
It’s an open-air exhibit. The displays or structures can be viewed in the open. It is a safer alternative to enclosed facilities.
People can visit the place regardless of vaccination status. There is no discrimination in this farm or resort for those who want to visit and have picture-taking in their outdoor exhibits.
There are a number of structures or exhibits that families or individuals can see. My family thinks that going to Torres Farm and Resorts’ exhibits is equivalent to having several field trips! It’s like this field trip enabled us to make up for the field trips we were not able to have in the past year and in the past months this 2021. It’s like our family traveled around the world in a few hours while we were there. We saw and had our photos taken at replicas or popular tourist attractions from different countries around the world. There were at least 10 attractions inside the resort.
There were only 5 attractions that we were not able to check out because 3 of them were closed, under renovation, or under construction. These were the Disney castle, Japanese garden, and Korean Palace. But because the Japanese house and garden can be seen from afar, we still had a photo taken with it in the background.
We also didn’t go to the Philippines area because there were many people swimming and hanging out in that area. We opted not to go to the other houses in the Finland area because these were a bit crowded already and we already visited the Gingerbread house in Tagaytay before. This brings me to the next reason we liked this resort as a field trip venue.
The entry fee of P180 per adult or child above 4 feet and P120 per child below 4 feet is relatively affordable considering that there are many attractions that can be seen inside the resort.
Each exhibit or structure also has a label with details or information about the structure that people can read so that they would know more about that specific popular landmark. Thus, it is educational and informative for the resort visitors.
They have safety protocols in place like the mandatory wearing of masks for all visitors and the observance of social distancing. However, sometimes, there are visitors or guests who are not following these protocols. I suggest that the resort should hire roving guards who will go around the resort to check and remind people to observe these protocols for the safety of everyone, especially during peak seasons like Christmas and school breaks when many people flock to the resort.
The place is accessible enough for families from Metro Manila or Greater Metro Manila. Travel time is relatively bearable. It is also accessible by public transportation for those who do not have their own vehicles.
You can bring your own food and drinks inside the resort and enjoy them there without paying a corkage fee. There are many areas where you can eat your packed snacks.
You can also buy food there and eat inside the resort if you want. They have restaurants inside the hotel with al fresco dining options.
We had our early dinner at the Italian restaurant. We opted for al fresco dining to be safe. This was our first time to eat in a restaurant during the pandemic. We had 3 kinds of pizza (Hawaiian, Margherita, and Pepperoni) and mozzarella balls. The food was very good! We finished our food in minutes! hahaha
They also have stores where you can buy food and drinks and a food stall where you can buy snacks and ice cream. This one is surrounded by tables and chairs and trees where people can eat al fresco.
Top 5 Tips When Visiting The Resort
- Target to arrive there early enough so you can take photos during the daytime.
- Bring water and food, at least for snacks, to save money.
- Bring a change of clothes for yourselves, especially the kids. It is breezy at the resort but it can be hot also. Kids like to run around and from one attraction to another. They will most likely perspire. And you can perspire also while running after them.
- Go on a weekday so there would be fewer people. Fewer people inside the resort mean it is safer for your family even if you take off your masks while taking a photo at an attraction. The possibility of having photobombers is also lesser. There won’t be long lines or any line when going to the different attractions.
- Plan how you will go around the resort to save time and energy. There is a map of the resort that you can find on the resort’s Facebook page and on Google. You can use that to plan ahead.
My family and I had a great time during our field trip. We originally wanted to eat ice cream at the resort but we were already full after eating pizza. So, we just bought sundaes at McDonald’s on our way home.
It was definitely a memorable and wonderful field trip for our family!
If there was no pandemic, we would have rented a room and stayed there overnight. There are swimming pools also but the pools are crowded because it’s the Christmas season. Maybe next time!
If you and your family want to go on a field trip or a vacation this New Year, you might want to check out their schedule of activities on January 1 and 2. You may see the details in their Facebook post here. I just need to caution you that there would be a lot of people during holidays and weekends.
Moreover, their rates will increase effective January 1. You can see the updated rates on their Facebook page also.
This is not a sponsored post. I’m just happy to share this option with fellow parents because it is a safe and affordable option.
