My eldest just became a tween recently.
I had been with him almost every day in the past years of his life. We shared meals together. I taught him almost everything he knows.
I spent A LOT of quality time with him.
And yet, it still feels that time just went by so fast.
There’s still so much I want to teach him and share with him.
I’m so grateful that we homeschooled him and that we continue to homeschool. Homeschooling gave me and continues to give me a lot of opportunities to do that… to teach him not just academics; but, more importantly, life lessons.
Life is unpredictable. We do not know the time or the hour when we or our loved ones will pass from this life.
Thus, if we are wise, we will live our days as if they are our last.
We will make wise choices.
We will prioritize the most important people in our lives.
We will spend quality time with them… because tomorrow is not guaranteed.
Several more years and my eldest will become an adult.
A couple of years from now, he would be very busy already with more academic requirements.
I’m so glad and grateful that I spent A LOT of fun times with him, playing with him, and homeschooling him in fun and creative ways.
I’m so glad I prioritized passing on my Christian/Catholic faith to him. I hope and pray that those teachings and habits would help him navigate life successfully and lead him to God and bring him to heaven one day.
I’m so glad I prioritized my family over my career more than a decade ago because the God I obeyed wowed me by giving me a career that is so much more than I have imagined!
I never dreamed or thought that I would be an award-winning or Amazon bestselling author.
I simply chose to obey God as soon as I recognized and heard His voice when I did my career discernment around a decade ago.
The choices that we make each day will lead us to say either of these lines:
“I wish I had” or
“I’m glad I did!”
“I’m glad I did!” I’m really glad and so grateful that I did!
How are you spending your time, friend?
The Bible says, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12
How about you? At this point in your life as a parent, which statement resonates with you more? Which one can you relate to?
