We are now beyond the halfway mark since Lent started. Holy Week will start in less than two weeks.
Are you still thinking and searching for meaningful activities that you can do with your family during this season?
May I suggest that you watch movies that will inspire you and your family members, including your children to pray more, love God more, and do good things?
Let me recommend some movies that my family and I watched in the past which have blessed us and moved our hearts while watching them and even after.
Just click the movie title to go to Netflix and watch it there.
- Journey to Grace: The Hansie Cronje Story – This is about a cricket player who was involved in a game-fixing scandal and his journey towards redemption.
- Good Sam – This is about a mysterious person leaving bags of money to help people.
- A Week Away – I recommend this to families with pre-teens and teenagers. This is about a teenager who joined a summer camp and had an encounter with God during his stay there.
- Penguin Bloom – This is based on a true story of a mother who met an accident that changed her life forever.
- Walk. Ride. Rodeo. – This is another movie that is based on a true story. The main character had an accident that supposedly ended her career. But through faith and determination also, she was able to compete again.
- Blue Miracle – This is another movie inspired by a true story. The main characters in this story will inspire you to do something to help the poor around you. This is about kids trying to save their orphanage by joining a competition.
- Rock My Heart – This is about a girl who had a heart disease, but wanted to compete in a life-threatening race.
- Mysteries of Faith – This is a docuseries that is both fascinating and and informative. Learn more about the Christian/Catholic faith by watching this.
- Paul, The Apostle – This is about the life of Saint Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles. This is also for older teens because there are a lot of bloody scenes.
- Risen – This is for older kids (teens) because it is bloody and violent. But if you want to watch it with younger children, particularly those who are used to watching superhero movies with violence like The Avengers, you can let younger kids watch this or just cover their eyes and fast forward some parts.
Since we are a homeschooling family, I usually ask my kids to write movie reports about the movies or films that we watch. We try to highlight also the lessons that they can learn from the movies.
I hope these movies bless your family this Lent and during Holy Week!
