One week to go before the official start of the school year 2020-2021.
Have you decided on your children’s education option this school year? If you have not yet decided on this, you might want to watch this video where I was interviewed on the different education options for children this school year. You can also read some of my previous blog posts on homeschooling and online learning.
If you have already chosen your children’s education option this year and you are now planning to buy your school supplies, I have good news for you!
National Book Store (NBS) is offering safe and convenient ways for you to purchase your home-based learning (and even work-from-home) supplies.
Here are your options:
- You can go to NBS stores where stringent measures are in place to keep both the employees and customers safe. NBS follows a strict no mask, no entry policy in all its stores. Proper physical distancing is also enforced and the number of people allowed inside is regulated. Contactless payment methods like GCash and PayMaya are also accepted and encouraged. Alcohol bottles provided at strategic areas like at the entrances and cashier counters. Shopping baskets, floors, and surfaces are also sanitized regularly.
- If you are pressed for time, you can use the Express Lane, where NBS staff will take your orders as you line up. They will prepare your items for you so you can get them and pay for them in the shortest time possible.
- You can Text to Order by sending a text message to any open NBS branch.
- You can Chat to Shop on the National Bookstore Facebook Page. Just like in option 3, an NBS shopper will put together your order. You can choose to pick it up or have it delivered to your home. Delivery charges are shouldered by the customer.
- Shop online on the National Bookstores website or from the official NBS stores on Shopee or Lazada.

You may also get updates by following NBS on social media on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram (@nationalbookstore).
I have written a blog post on homeschooling essentials. You may use it as a guide in making a list of what you’ll buy from NBS. Click here to read my blog post on homeschooling essentials.
National Bookstore has many affordable products that you can choose from. You can buy pens and pencils for as low as Php6, notebooks and pad papers for as low as Php14, and workbooks and references for as low as Php50.
Some of the new items that we got from NBS recently are the Veco Draw and Write notebooks and the new set of Science cum Filipino books authored by Jomike Tejido.
My kids love the Draw and Write notebooks that they have. We use it for composition and drawing. I love that the kids do not need to get a different paper to draw something related to what they have written in their notebook. Everything is in the same notebook now! The Draw and Write notebook comes in two sizes. The small one is only Php45 while the big one is Php75.
I hope this blog post helps you as you plan and prepare for the new school year.
If you are new to homeschooling or home-based learning, I invite you to join our support group on Facebook called Homeschooling Parents Support Group PH. I formed it around 5 months ago to help families who suddenly need to homeschool because of the pandemic. I would love to help you!
