The year 2022 has been one extra challenging year for my family and me starting with major challenges at the start of the year in January. I wrote about it in detail here.
But amid all the challenges that we experienced, we also received many blessings from God. In fact, I had a hard time limiting my list to 22 big blessings because we received so many individually and as a family.
Let me share my list with you.
Top 1: The biggest blessing that we received in 2022 is that no one in our immediate family got seriously sick that needed hospitalization. Even though my husband got sick with COVID and the rest of us probably got infected as well, our symptoms were mild and didn’t last very long.
Top 2: Our second child, Mateo, had his First Confession and First Holy Communion, finally, after waiting for around 2 years. I wrote a detailed blog post about it here.
Top 3: Our youngest child, Geordan, also got to attend online catechism classes, had his First Confession, and First Holy Communion this year. I wrote about this here.
Top 4: We were able to attend more Masses in the church, both al fresco and inside the church building), in 2022. Thanks be to God! I am grateful to God that I still got to attend daily Masses most days in 2022. Although these were mostly online, I was still blessed by them. But nothing compares to attending Mass in the church where my family members and I received Holy Communion. This past Christmas season was extra special because our youngest had his First Holy Communion on the last Sunday of Advent. After that, all of our family members got to receive Holy Communion already in the Masses we attended in church. What a big blessing!
Top 5: Because the health and safety restrictions related to COVID were relaxed, my family and I got to do some of our usual Lenten, Holy Week, and Easter activities again outside. One of these is our annual Visita Iglesias. Although we joined many activities or events online also like our Holy Week Retreat, we were happy that during that time, we got to visit churches again. Here is my blog post about this.
Top 6: Our eldest son, Yanthy, was able to record 10 new singles and launch his first Christmas album on at least 20 music platforms globally! The title of his album is Christmas Hymns for Him. Please check it out and listen to his music since it’s still Christmas until the Baptism of our Lord this January. I wrote about it in detail here.
Top 7: We found a new homeschool provider that also allows the use of an open curriculum which had a much cheaper tuition fee compared to our previous providers.
Top 8: Our new homeschool provider had a referral program and I got to refer many homeschoolers to them who enrolled in their homeschool program. Thus, these were reflected as discounts on our kids’ tuition fees.
Top 9: Our second child’s birthday celebration in an al fresco restaurant and coffee shop in the Tagaytay area was sponsored. His godmother also sponsored his customized birthday cake. I wrote about this in detail here.
Top 10: Our youngest child’s birthday wishes were granted. This included having a sponsored staycation in Tagaytay! Read the detail here.
Top 11: We got to celebrate our eldest child’s birthday and his milestone of becoming a recording artist in an al fresco restaurant in the Tagaytay area also. You can read the details about this here.
Top 12: We got to stay in a hotel again and it was for free! Read about it here.
Top 13: We got to go camping with our boys for the first time and experience farm life before the official start of our school year. Find out more about this trip here.
Top 14: We celebrated our 15th or Crystal Wedding Anniversary and we got to eat out again in a restaurant with an al fresco dining area. I blogged about it here.
Top 15: We had a successful school year for 2021-2022. We got to comply with our homeschool providers’ requirements. Our kids even got good grades and learned many new things.
Top 16: We got to celebrate our wins for the past school year by having our homeschool’s Recognition Day.
Top 17: I had clients for my coaching, editing, and consulting business.
Top 18: I had regular speaking engagements and talks. I also had online guestings.
Top 19: I earned through my blog and had a number of blog partnerships with brands.
Top 20: My computer (desktop) and phone are still working and I got to use them to do my work and ministry. There were many times when I was not able to use my PC. My husband thought that we needed to buy a replacement already. But I prayed fervently for God to extend the life of our desktop because I knew that it’s not part of our budget yet last year. God heard my prayer. Thank you so much, Lord!
Top 21: We got to go on field trips again just like before the pandemic! You can read about our field trips in safe and al fresco places like La Mesa Ecopark, Cavite historical monuments and landmarks, Rizal Park and Ayala Triangle monuments.
Top 22: God provided for our family in many amazing ways when my father died.
That’s only my Top 22 blessings for 2022! I actually have a much longer list of blessings!
My longer list of blessings for 2022 is having the time and energy to maintain this blog and that this blog had paved the way for more blessings!
Do you agree with me that God has really soaked us with blessings in 2022?
Sometimes, we just have to look harder and with the eyes of faith to notice how blessed we are.
At other times, we need to work hard also to receive more blessings from God. Like what the old adage says, “Work as if all depended on self and pray as if all depended on God.”
Happy New Year to all of you!
